Stop Guessing Where Your Traffic Comes From

Marketing without tracking is just guessing. If you post a link on Facebook, in your newsletter, and in your bio, Google Analytics will often lump all that traffic into one bucket. You won't know which specific effort actually drove the sale.

The BCPToolkit UTM Builder solves this by attaching "tags" to your URL. These tags tell your analytics tools exactly where the visitor came from (Source), how they arrived (Medium), and why they clicked (Campaign).

When Should You Use UTMs?

  • Email Newsletters: Don't just rely on your email provider's stats. Tag every link in your email so you can see which specific articles or products subscribers are clicking on inside Google Analytics.
  • Social Media Bios: The "Link in Bio" is prime real estate. Use a UTM code (e.g., utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=bio) to see exactly how much revenue your profile link generates compared to your posts.
  • QR Codes: You can't click a flyer, but you can scan it. Create a UTM link (e.g., utm_source=flyer_nov25) and turn that into a QR code to track offline marketing effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does this affect my SEO rankings?

No. Google ignores UTM parameters when crawling your site for SEO. However, it is best practice to set up a "canonical tag" on your website pages so Google knows the clean URL is the main one.

2. Can I use capital letters or spaces?

Technically yes, but you shouldn't. Analytics sees "Facebook" and "facebook" as two different sources. To keep your data clean, always use lowercase. Our tool has a "Force Lowercase" toggle to help you with this.

3. Can I hide these long URLs?

Yes! UTM links can be very long and ugly. You should generate the link here first, and then paste it into a URL shortener (like Bitly) or your social media tool. The tracking will still work perfectly.

4. Should I use UTMs on internal links?

Never. Do not use UTMs for links that go from one page of your site to another (e.g., Homepage to Product Page). This resets the user session and breaks your data. Only use them for links coming from outside your website.
